Masafi, one of the region's leading FMCG brands, has been named as one of the 15 winners worldwide at this year's edition of the Oracle Excellence Awards, an initiative aimed at recognizing customers and partners who have excelled at driving business value and innovations through the use of Oracle solutions.
The ‘Eco-Enterprise Innovation’ award was presented to Masafi in recognition of the company’s use of Oracle products and solutions as part of its move to take an environmental lead, reduce its costs and improve business efficiencies by using ‘green’ businesses practices. The award was presented by Jeff Henley, Chairman of Oracle Corporation to Tapas Roy, CEO, Raqmiyat during Oracle OpenWorld 2011, being held in San Francisco, U.S.A. Raqmiyat, a leading U.A.E. based systems integrator, is Masafi’s IT partner and has helped address the company’s IT business requirements with the provision of a strategic IT vision and roadmap. The strategic partnership between Raqmiyat and Masafi has helped the latter create a paperless environment saving over two million pages of paper per year and reducing the company’s carbon foot print. Raqmiyat, which has maintained a strong partnership with Oracle over the last few years and is officially designated to implement and provide solutions on Oracle’s e-Business suite and Oracle Technology suite, nominated Masafi for its implementation of initiatives directed towards protecting the environment and saving energy and resource costs. Criteria for the awards included the reduction of overhead costs associated with the value chain; creation of value by instilling a greater dependency on systems and self service; design of a fully integrated solution comprising Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), CRM, Supply chain, Oracle Discoverer and the use of IT to provide automated environmentally friendly solutions. “Oracle, our customers and our partners are continually discovering innovative uses for Oracle technology and deploying ground-breaking solutions and best practices to address customer need,” said Jeb Dasteel, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, Oracle. “The Oracle Excellence Awards offers Oracle a unique opportunity to honor our customers and partners for their continued dedication to driving business value and success in the industry.” According to Masafi officials, the implementation of Oracle solutions helped in streamlining the manufacturing, distribution, time and labor attendance systems and reimbursement processes using electronic purchase orders approvals, invoicing, and tracking reports to achieve a paperless environment, saving over two million pages of paper per year and reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The online workflow approval for requisitions, purchase orders and internal memos has saved the unnecessary flow of papers within the company. Masafi also implemented an online Oracle Self-Service Human Resource software module (SSHR), automating HR functions and giving employees access to functionality such as updates on leave records and contact details, online requests generation & approvals; thus optimizing the company’s time and resources. With the implementation of Oracle SSHR online services, Masafi has saved 500 man-hours and 15,000 sheets of printing paper per annum. During the initial stages of the implementation, Raqmiyat had assured Masafi that the utilization of Oracle’s integrated suite of solutions would play a major role in helping the company achieve its set sustainability objectives. The move has helped integrate systems like Oracle EBS, Van Sales Depot, CRM application, MIS reporting tool to reduce capital and operational expenses and achieved an estimated 10 per cent to 15 per cent annual energy savings. It has also helped in simplifying the company’s IT administration and infrastructure without sacrificing processing capacity, scalability, reliability, and high performance. The online availability of all documentation, processes, records and transactional help has improved the accessibility and management with saving & reduction on paper consumption.
